The first volume (World Economics 1: Comparative Theories and Methods of International and Development Economics) was devoted to make a historical, comparative and critical survey of the main thesis and methods of the various theoretical schools, and to present the theoretical and methodological fundamentals of the above-mentioned disciplinary or rather interdisciplinary fields of study. This second volume focuses on the actual reality of the contemporary world economy as involving different national systems of economy, an inadequate international economic order, asymmetrical interdependencies, development gap, disequilibria and interactions between globalisation, regionalisation and national development, and also delivers my own views on its historical development, specific characteristics, and major tendencies, on the reasons of underdevelopment, of the rise and failure of "socialism", on the driving forces and effects of globalisation, on transnational companies, on structural adjustment and competitiveness, and on the criteria of "sustainable development", world peace and real emancipation.
