»Criminal Proceedings and Demographic Change: Elderly Defendants in Preliminary Proceedings« As the social structure of the Federal Republic of Germany is experiencing a demographically induced steady increase in the average age of its population, the criminal justice system will be confronted with elderly perpetrators and victims more frequently in the future. This dissertation examines this complex of issues in the area of German criminal procedural law, focusing on questions regarding the law of interrogation and pre-trial custody. In addition, a future prospect on possible changes in criminal procedural law is given.
